Ingredients for kebabs
- 3 medium potatoes boiled in salted water and roughly mashed- set aside
- 1 lb ground beef or any ground meat
- 1 small onion diced
- 1 tbsp oil
- 3 green onions diced
- 1/2 handful of chopped cilantro
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1 tbsp ginger paste
- 1 tbsp garlic paste
- 1 green chili diced (optional)
- 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Additional ingredients
- Italian or seasoned breadcrumbs for coating
- Oil for shallow frying – can also use the air fryer
Ingredients for egg wash
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Fresh ground pepper according to taste
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
Method
- Heat a large pan on med heat, add 1 tbsp oil.
- Add ground meat and cook until no longer pink.
- Now add in ginger garlic pastes, and all the powdered spices and salt. Cook for 4-5 minutes on med low heat. Stir often.
- Add diced onions, green onions, cilantro and lemon juice. Mix and stir for 5 minutes. Cook until all the liquid is evaporated.
- Let the meat mixture cool. Once cooled, add to mashed potatoes and mix very well. Feel free to use your hands.
- Form desired shape, kebab shape or patties.
- Heat enough oil or med high heat for frying. While the oil is heating up, Coat the kebabs in breadcrumbs.
- Make egg wash using all the ingredients listed under egg wash. Whisk well.
- Lightly dip the coated patties/ kebabs in egg wash and shallow fry. Fry few minutes on both sides until golden brown. Lay the patties on a paper towel lined plate to soak up the extra oil.
- Serve with ketchup or your fav chutney. Enjoy!
