Bun Kebab is a popular street food in Pakistan, consisting of a spicy patty served in a bun with chutneys and garnishes. Here’s my simple and easy bun kebab recipe.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef or mutton
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh coriander leaves, chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
- Burger buns
- Lettuce leaves (optional)
- Tomato slices (optional)
- Onion rings (optional)
- Green chutney
- Tamarind chutney
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef or mutton with finely chopped onion, green chilies, coriander leaves, ginger-garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well to combine all the ingredients evenly.
- Divide the mixture into equal-sized portions and shape them into round patties.
- Heat oil in a skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the patties in the pan and fry them until they are golden brown and cooked through, flipping them halfway through cooking. This usually takes about 5-6 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of the patties.
- While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on a separate skillet or grill.
- To assemble the bun kebabs, spread some green chutney and tamarind chutney on the bottom half of each toasted bun.
- Place a cooked patty on top of the chutneys on each bun.
- Optionally, add lettuce leaves, tomato slices, and onion rings on top of the patty for added freshness and crunch.
- Cover the bun with the top half and press gently to hold everything together.
- Serve the bun kebabs hot with additional chutneys on the side for dipping, and enjoy!
