Masala ginger tea … perfect for a rainy day. This is my go to comfort chai .. flavorful and strong, just the way I like it. As a kid in Pakistan , I remember seeing chai walas ( tea vendors) at every street corner.. serving up hot chai in those familiar small glasses … excuse me as I get back to my tea 🙂
Ingredients
- 2 cups of waterÂ
- 1/4 of milk of your choice ( I used 2%) love the cream that forms on top
- 2 tbsp black loose leaf tea – use less if you don’t want your tea to be too strongÂ
- 1-2 tsp of sugar – adjust to your likingÂ
- 1 tbsp grated ginger – use less if you don’t want that biteÂ
- 1 star anise
- 5-7 cardamom pods
- 5-7 whole cloves
- 1 stick of cinnamon
- 1/2 tbsp fennel seeds
Method
- Bring water to boil in a small pot
- Once boiling add all spices includingÂ
ginger - Let simmer for 2-3 mins on med heat
- Add loose leaf tea @dilmahceylontea
- Let boil (med heat ) for 1-2 minutes
- Add milk – adjust if too dark
- Add sugar to your taste
- Let tea simmer on low for 5 minutes
- Strain with mesh strainer and enjoy16w
