Meat pies made from puff pastry! The best part about this mixture is that I call it my all purpose beef . I use this mixture for samosas, puffs , bread braids, desi Sheppard pies, potato chops etc . It’s versatile and super tasty .. you can adjust the heat to your taste . I made 2 different shapes so go ahead and be creative !
Ingredients
⁃ 1/2 lb ground beef
⁃ 1 tbsp olive oil
⁃ 1-1/2 tsp salt
⁃ 1 tbsp garlic paste
⁃ 1 tbsp ginger paste
⁃ 1 tbsp cumin powder
⁃ 1/4 tsp turmeric
⁃ 1/2 cup frozen peas (optional)
⁃ 1 small onion finely diced
⁃ 1 tbsp coriander powder
⁃ 1 tsp paprika
⁃ 1 tsp red chilli powder
⁃ 1 tsp Garam masala
⁃ 1 -2 tsp lemon juice. ⁃ 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
⁃ 1-2 chopped green chillies ( omit if you don’t want spicy )
Method
- Heat a large non stick skillet , add oil- brown ground beef – make sure all water is evaporated.
- Add onion , and all spices and pastes ( do not add peas or lemon juice at this point ), mix well.
- Let simmer covered on low for 5 minutes. Add peas , cilantro and lemon juice and mix well . Make sure beef mixture is dry . Sprinkle garam masala.
- Cover skillet and set aside to cool.
- Slightly Thaw puff pastry sheets according to package instructions and cut them in squares.
- Stir beef mixture one more time .
- Spread cooled prepared beef mixture in the center of the each square sheet. Fold into a triangle or squares and press the edges with a fork to create a design and also seal it.
- Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F and bake these puffs for 12-15 minutes or till they puff up well and turn golden brown. Take them out and let them cool. Serve them warm with ketchup/chutney.
